It’s no secret that car prices are rising. They boast advanced crash constructions, cutting-edge infotainment systems, and fuel-efficient engines.
As a result, inexpensive horsepower has fallen out of favor. However, there are some cars that will get your heart beating without breaking the wallet.
One may think that the “affordable horsepower” club is exclusive for American muscle vehicles, but there are plenty of family sedans and hatchbacks from all over the world that can make the same claim.
U.S. News & World Report has prepared a list of 11 cars that are reasonably priced (usually under $35,000) but have plenty of power. 200 to 250 horsepower is a good quantity for certain compact cars. If we go over our self-imposed budget of $35,000, we’ll make sure to explain why.

The 2021 Toyota Camry is a well-rounded, well-equipped family vehicle that ranks first in our midsize sedan rankings.
It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as standard and a 3.5-liter V6 engine that sends 301 horsepower to the front wheels via an eight-speed automated transmission.
This V6 engine is standard in the top-of-the-line Camry TRD. It also has a TRD suspension, performance front seats, and a variety of sporty interior and external aesthetic improvements.
All of this comes in a practical car that includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa as standard features, as well as a slew of driver-assistance systems.
